Narus and HCL Infosystems Limited Partner to Protect India From Cyber Threats

Sunnyvale, May 18:  Narus, the leader in real-time traffic intelligence, announced today a strategic partnership with HCL Infosystems Ltd., India's premier information enabling ICT system integration company, to assist the Indian government in the protection of its people and infrastructure. By teaming with India-based HCL, Narus will be able to leverage HCL's expertise in systems integration and its strong government practice in the Indian market. HCL will leverage Narus' unique technology and ability to scale, proven deployments and growing sales and customer base in India. The partnership illustrates the two companies' commitment to delivering end-to-end, state-of-the-art solutions to India.

With this partnership, HCL will leverage its systems integration expertise in the government sector to deliver and integrate Narus' real-time traffic intelligence system, intercept, cyber protection and traffic management solutions to the Indian marketplace. In return, Narus' growing presence in India through its Narus Networks Private Limited (NNPL) subsidiary -- including a product development center in Bangalore and a sales/support office in New Delhi -- will provide HCL with an even stronger foothold in the Indian technology market.

Over the past year, Web sites in India -- including government sites -- have been assaulted by foreign hackers. For example, in April 2008, according to published reports, Indian intelligence agencies detected hackers breaking into the computer network of the Ministry of External Affairs. Additionally, the country of India has mandated that all service providers offering broadband solutions provide IP intercept capabilities to the government of India in order to provide service.
